What is OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN
Consumers pay attention to more than just quality and health-related aspects when buying textile or leather products. They also increasingly want to know where and under what working conditions an item was manufactured and how eco-friendly the production process was.
The OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN label answers these three questions at a glance. That’s because we test and certify all areas of the textile supply chain in three steps with OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN:
1. Testing products for harmful substances
We test to make sure that products don’t pose any health risks with regard to harmful substances using OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 (for textiles) or OEKO-TEX® LEATHER STANDARD (for leather products).
2. Inspecting manufacturing processes to make sure they’re eco-friendly
Not only do we test the products, we also inspect the entire manufacturing process, examining its eco-friendliness.
3. Inspecting workstations to make sure that they’re safe and socially acceptable
Our on-site auditors inspect all the operations and workstations along the entire supply chain. They do so according to the OEKO-TEX® STeP guidelines. With this certification, we ensure that sustainable and eco-friendly production is taking place under fair and safe working conditions.
